The Right to Vote

During this campaign period, there are so many leaders you will see for the first time and last time. Many will open up their phone lines for this season and block you for the next five years. Most will give you small monies as voter bribery and steal big money as elected leaders. It’s time to vet for true leaders, anointed leaders, purpose-driven leaders. It’s time to look out for leaders who want to work for the community and not settle political scores.

Think about it, when a politician thinks like a voter some of the problems we face as a community will be solved automatically.

If we strip off the security luxuries from politicians then our neighborhoods will be safer.

If politicians extended the same benefits they get In gated communities and palatial homes to our ghettos and slums then the standards of living and quality of life would be admirable.

If politicians’ kids went to schools where they voted then the quality of education will improve immensely for all children.

2022 is here, voters must smoke out lying politicians. This time around if we are honest about development and progress voters must not tolerate being lied to without holding it against their favored candidates.

It’s time we put the political class in the spotlight and scrutinize their true intentions. It’s time we asked the hard questions. It’s time we heard and scrutinized their manifesto and their practicality.

The wheel was a good invention and its use is unbiasedly shared by all, so is a good idea that can move society forward. I don’t need to be unique in my manifesto but I need to be practical and passionate.

Leaders must have the goodwill to deliver and serve the people without any expectations. The opinion leaders must in an honest way lead the voters in the right direction without being guided by who has deeper pockets. Religious leaders must not shy away from politics because it is part of their day-to-day life. Voters must know it’s not the insults and politics of division that will bring about economic recovery and progressive politics.

In the words of Lyndon B. Johnson

This right to vote is the basic right without which all others are meaningless. It gives people, people as individuals, control over their own destinies.

Be safe during this festive season and remember that there are endless blessings when we put a smile on a stranger.
